Volkl Unlimited AC50 Ski System with iPT 12 Wide Ride BindingsReviewsI own AC50s in 170cm and have been really pleased since buying them last year. They have proved their all-mountain brass throughout my trips spanning east coast to west. Most of my skiing, however, is done on the east coast and it's for others of the same to whom I'd recommend these skis. (Despite being dubbed 'all-mountain' they are built to slightly favor the hard pack/ice, not the un-groomed deep off-piste for which I'd recommend a less parabolic ski with a wider waist). Points to consider: (1) On the AC50s, it is amazingly easy to hold an edge. (2) They are incredibly responsive when initiating a turn, almost dangerously so. (3) They are high octane and fast. Consider your ability level before buying the AC50s. I would hesitate to recommend these to a novice/intermediate skier due to their aggressive temperament and partiality to high speeds. They also possess more carving 'horsepower' than a non-experienced skier would know how to utilize. I have been skiing most of my 26yr life and they've had me in the backseat more times than I can count! I would give them 5 stars but I think they're a little on the heavy side. Average Rating: |
